Originally from Chicago, John and Carole have called Charlotte home for over twenty-five years. John retired from Accenture in 2017 after a 27-year career where he was a Managing Director in their Financial Services practice. John is still very active in the marketplace where he provides fractional CIO/CTO and technology advisory services for mid-market companies in the Financial Services and Retail industries. Carole’s second half passion is to serve expecting mothers as a childbirth educator and labor doula. John has always had a passion for helping non-profits achieve their mission through the innovative use of technology. He was a board member of Apparo during its early days of serving the Charlotte non-profit community, and during his time working with Apparo, he championed Accenture’s technology innovation award grant which focused on leveraging technology to amplify a non-profit’s mission and community impact. According to John “I really liked the venture philanthropy concept. SVP provides us with a unique opportunity to work with like-minded individuals who are committed to having a sustainable impact in addressing the social and economic challenges in our local Charlotte community. SVP’s unique model allows us to engage in the activities that best leverage our talents and passions.”
Outside of SVP, John and Carole are actively involved in the South Africa missions work of their church which consists of operating a satellite church campus along with a child sponsorship program supporting 85+ kids and their families who are orphaned or economically disadvantaged. John serves as a mission team leader and travels to South Africa at least 1-2 times per year. John and Carole have four grown kids so in their free time they enjoy traveling, exploring new eats (big foodies), playing golf, scuba diving, and staying active through Crossfit.
