Jim and Denise Ratchford have enjoyed learning about Charlotte’s non-profits through SVP. Whether attending a seminar on affordable housing or a SEED20 event, the Ratchfords appreciate how SVP exposes them to challenges Charlotte faces as well as to non-profit solutions. Shortly after joining SVP, Jim and Denise began tutoring with Heart Math, an association they’ve enjoyed for 10 years. Both have also enjoyed serving SVP on the Investment Selection Committee and Denise worked for 3 years as Lead Partner for Fashion and Compassion (now Braveworks).
Denise has served as an elder and as Missions Chair at Westminster Presbyterian Church, where she worked with organizations such as Roof Above and I Am 24/7. A former computer applications trainer, Denise has always had a love for teaching, which she exercised through tutoring in her boys’ schools through the years. Currently, she is also an Augustine Literacy Project tutor.
Jim is a senior financial advisor with Wells Fargo Advisors. Through the years he has coached his sons in basketball, soccer and baseball. He has also served as an elder at Westminster, where he led the Breakfast of Angels ministry for over 20 years. He is currently Board Chair for the Providence Day School Board of Trustees, the school from which the Ratchford’s 3 sons graduated, the last in 2020.
Jim and Denise enjoy staying active through biking vacations and playing pickleball. They also love to attend sporting events – cheering on the Dodgers, Hornets, and weathering the ups and downs of their beloved Wake Forest Demon Deacons.
