Laurie is passionate communal professional who joined SVP Charlotte as a Program Manager in June 2022. Laurie has over 15 years of diverse professional experience in social work, education, and nonprofit sectors. A Chicago native, she relocated to Charlotte in 2018 to become the Director of Community Affairs and Israel Affairs with the Jewish Federation of Greater Charlotte. A committed activist, Laurie joined community networks such as the Community Builder Initiative LU 40 class, Charlotte Civic Leadership Academy, and others. Her passions include community outreach, partner engagement, and diversity, equity, and inclusion initiatives.
Laurie earned her bachelor’s degree in English Education and with a minor in Sociology from DePaul University and her master’s degree in Social Work with an emphasis on Community Health and Urban Development from the University of Illinois Chicago. In her free time, she can be found binging audiobooks, learning about wine regions, hiking, or finding herself lost in random adventures around Charlotte. She is also an active member of LGBTQ+ Mecklenburg Democrats.
