Ever thought about joining a nonprofit board? Whether you’re a current or past board member, understanding your core responsibilities beforehand is crucial. LendingTree, one of our esteemed Corporate Partners, actively encourages its talented employees to contribute their time, skills, and leadership to bolster community strength.
In a remarkable commitment to community impact, LendingTree generously matches volunteer board service hours with financial contributions and supports employees’ personal contributions up to $1500 annually. Demonstrating their dedication, more than 60 LendingTree employees engaged in one of three board workshops facilitated by SVP Charlotte at their corporate headquarters in September.
During these insightful 90-minute training sessions, LendingTree employees, both in-person and virtual, had the opportunity to learn from SVP Partners. The workshops delved into crucial questions:
✨ Why join a nonprofit board?
✨ What are the core responsibilities of board members?
✨ What are the eight questions to ask before joining a board?
✨ What are the potential next steps to explore board leadership?
Identifying the need for comprehensive board training, SVP Charlotte initiated these workshops after observing trends impacting board engagement and effectiveness in 2020. Recognizing the pivotal role of high-functioning boards in community impact and nonprofit sustainability, these workshops aim to equip individuals with the knowledge and skills needed for effective board service.
Since November 2020, SVP has successfully facilitated 13 diverse board workshops, drawing the participation of nearly 300 individuals. A special shout-out to SVP Partners and Board Members Scott Brennan, Denise Burkard, Henry Lander, and Margaret Marshall, who co-facilitated the LendingTree workshops alongside our Executive Director, Kristin Winkle Beck.
We are continually seeking passionate Partners to share their personal board experiences. If you’re interested in contributing to these workshops in the future, please reach out to Kristin at kbeck@svpcharlotte.org . Together, let’s empower more individuals to make a positive impact through board leadership! #SVPCharlotte #LendingTree #BoardLeadership #CommunityEmpowerment
