A letter from a SEED20 alumni, Jen Band (Playing for Others) as she reflects on 2017 and looks to 2018:
Tis’ the season for giving and end of year running! I don’t know about you, but I am ready to say “see ya later” to 2017 and welcome in 2018 with new intentions, goals, and remembering to take the time to slow and really connect with those around me. In the thick of running a non-profit, it can be easy to feel alone. How can anyone possibly understand? How can anyone possibly get it? But the truth is that we have a network of 120 fellow Seed20 alumni who DO get it! People who can not only sit with us and say, “I hear you”, but people we can lean on for support, guidance and celebration. Collectively, we are a passionate, driven group of amazing leaders who are making a HUGE difference in this city that we love. It’s time to uplevel the Seed20 alumni experience and I’m hoping with all of us in it together, we can do just that!
So with all that in mind…drum roll please…introducing Seed20 ALUMNI CLASS CONTACTS! Each class will have a representative, helping to share celebrations, information, and resources. It’s like having a head counselor at summer camp! With the network growing and growing each year, we wanted to find a way to keep the energy within each of the classes going and inspiration flowing!
Class contacts will meet early in 2018 and come up with a game plan involving effective and efficient communication that will help the work that all of us are doing. If you have any thoughts or idea, please reach out. I’d love to grab coffee or a cupcake.
Here’s to unwrapping the new gift of 2018 and embodying the quote, “A rising tide lifts all boats”.
Big hugs,
Jen Band – Class of 2013
