They have worked hard all summer and are gearing up for fall. They are ready, are you? We took some time to chat with the leaders of a couple of our Investees to find out what needs they have and learn a little more about their plans for fall!
Digi-Bridge: Digi-Bridge is currently seeking working group members to help support communications, development and events management for a yearlong effort aimed at raising three years’ worth of operating capital. After initial plans are developed, subgroup members will be asked to support plan execution from November 2017-November 2018. In 2016, as part of their digital consultancy efforts, Digi-Bridge spearheaded the development of The SWARM, a FIRST LEGO League competitive robotics team, which went on to represent the only Title I elementary in Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools at the regional competition.
Heart Math Tutoring: Currently, they need tutors! See website for more details! Across twelve schools, Heart students left for summer vacation mastering 2,138 more building block skills than at the start of the year. 94% of surveyed teachers reported that their Heart students grew in confidence and/or enthusiasm towards math! Results are in! Heart volunteers collectively gave 13,082 hours of one-on-one instruction to Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools (CMS) students, and 98% of 643 students met program math growth goals set in conjunction with math specialists at UNC Charlotte and CMS. Their generous supporters and volunteers have served 65% more students while outcomes remain strong. Additionally, the philanthropic community has made game-changing investments in Heart’s work – unprecedented for Heart – to support capacity-building costs that will make the program strong and scalable. Heart is also look for a full time Operations Manager position!
